In books, book chapters, articles, and reviews, Dr. Boukary Sawadogo has written on African
cinema and animation. His single-authored books include West African Screen Media: Comedy,
TV Series, and Transnationalization (Michigan State University Press, 2019), a multi-edition
undergraduate textbook African Film Studies: An Introduction (Routledge, 2022), and
Les cinémas francophones ouest africains, 1990-2005 (L’Harmattan, 2013).
Dr. Sawadogo has also authored Africans in Harlem: An Untold New York Story (Fordham University Press, 2022),
exploring the historical and contemporary exchanges between Africa and Black America, describing Harlem’s role
as a bellwether of these cross-Atlantic transformations.
